Intermittent Engine cut out

I have an intermittent engine cut out problem on my recently refurbished Stag Auto. I have only completed about 2000 miles and it has happened three time. Going along normally and the engine dies. Stop for a minuet of so and then it will restart and carry on with no problem. Any ideas?

Fuel pump,? tank breather blocked ? Fuel filter blocked ? something like that. Graham

Hi bud,
On my car it was the start of the optical eye part of the lumenition system starting to fail. If you have no lumenition fitted, this answer may not apply!

Hi, that's typical of a failing coil, on warming up, a fault in the wiring opens up, then on cooling, closes again. If it splutters and loses power before stopping, it's likely to be fuel related. Good luck, Martin.

Everything is new and clean apart from the fuel pump.....I'll check it out

it's a brand new coil but that doesn't mean it's working correctly. I have a spare so I'll give it a swop

It took me three coils to get one that worked reliably once it was hot..............
