    Newbie here, engine question

    Hi there,
I am considering purchasing a Stag with a dismantled engine. I have some experience of rebuilding engines (I have a TR6 with a rover V8 fitted and am rebuilding a triumph straight six engine) but know very little about the triumph V8.
Is this a specialist job to rebuild? can I do it myself? is there anyone on this forum who does rebuilds for fellow members (not asking for a freebie here!!!!!)
    Any info greatly appreciated

    Simon

It may be worth you contacting Russ (Kryten on the forum). Just put a post on here for him and I'm sure he will see it

Aha! Now I've found my phone, there is a message, Ian......

Simon - happy to chat about it, done quite a few. An obvious question is how dismantled (whether it was done with a hammer and chisel or more sympathetically) and why dismantled (head gaskets, thrown timing chains, siezed jackshaft), and are all the bits there still etc.... The Triumph V8 has its fair share of foibles, and is not the most straightforward to rebuild, but an absolute delight when it's running right so well worth the effort

I built an engine that had lain in pieces in a cellar since 1986, just last year, which is now happily hairing around Sussex, but had some issues replacing some lost/mislaid bits hence the question.
