    Practical Classic.......

    Surrey Heath-20130202-00044.jpg

Don't let anyone tell you a Stag is not a practical car

The passenger seat was out of the car anyway, but i think it would still have worked ok if had been fitted

T cut is a very harsh aggressive product.

Remember i am a car valeter and detailer by profession so if any member wants advice on car care or best products for the job feel free to ask me.

People on here have given me advice about things i dont know about so only happy to give free advice about what i do know about.

        Cheers,
        Cliff.

Ian, it did have a wash on the only dry day between Christmas and New Year, but no polish was involved, I think the camera is being rather kind!

            hi guys
im a new member. bought a stag late last year, needed complete restoration, then I bought another one as a donor to the first.
the huge task of restoring it began a month ago where we discovered that the donor car was actually structurally better than the first so we have commenced works on this one.
we have currently cut out the floors, car needs new floors boot pan inner and outer sills, which I have purchased. so we are of,
my goal is to have an absolute mint mark 1 stag, so everthing is being replaced.
the work is extensive I would like to share photos of the ongoing project with you all and any advice or tips you have would be gratefully received.

When I had my first Stag about 1975 (1970 model) I also had a picture framing buisness and often went to east London to collect moulding 4m lengths and several hundred feet un-zip rear window moulding sticking out the back job done

What would you suggest to restore aging " oxidized" paint if not T Cut ( this actually for my Range Rover). I have to agree you can't use T Cut very often or you have no paint left!

                    Hi Stagmad,

Welcome to the forum and Stag(s) ownership.

It sounds like you're going to be busy but you seem undaunted by the task ahead - good on you.

I don't know if you've been looking on this forum before now or not but ther have been several extensive restorations reported on here - eg Edd's Stag project, White/blue Bavarian Stag and flying farmer's latest project just to mention a few (other restoration projects are avilable ) so check those out, but as has been said, feel free to ask anytghhing - I'm sure you'll get help with everything.

                    Good luck.

                    Cheers

                    Julian

                          hi ian and Julian

                          I live in Bexleyheath.

lol no I am not daunted by the project ahead. I keep telling my wife to have vision with the project. ( shes not having it though lol).
I was going to spend between 6 and 8 grand on a stag. but I looked at loads and there was always something that needed doing or would need doing soon.
so I thought start from the ground up at least I know it will be perfect at the end . no hidden dramas !!

I am just trying to work out how to share the photos with you on here !!

                          cheers guys

If you go to the top line Forum there's a sticky thread explaining how to upload pictures

                            Cheers

                              Hi Andy

Yes they are adaptable cars. I used my yesterday to transport some 6 foot light fittings. With the hardtop on the car I tipped forward the front passenger seat and stuck them out of the passenger window.
