I think it has to be a written enquiry from an official body (SOC or similar), and it comes with a fee of about £100 - that's what I've heard, but it could be complete cods...................

Peter Robinson the membership secretary knows. About 3 years ago at an AGM he said there was about 9000 stags still on DVLA books, to me this figure seems hard to believe from a car that is 30+ years old out of 25,000 made in total out of which 6000 went abroad. That is 50% of the cars in this country are still around. I would have thought about 6000 myself including Restoration projects (less the 500 that were broken on E.bay last year)

Assuming DVLA respond with a figure, shall we have a sweapstake on the current figure?

I would be surprised if there were more than 5000 taxed, MOT'd and roadworthy Stags in the UK right now. But I suppose there is a grey area with the number that are SORNed or undergoing restoration at any given time:?. One thing is certain, give or take the odd resurection like BigJ is doing the number will sadly only ever go down

You are probable right about the numbers going down

Unless we can increase the public awaremess and indeed confidence in the cars.If this were to happenthen demand wouldincrease . This would result in values increasing also.

Nock on effect of this would be that the basket cases that have been laying dormant may become worth spending money on

and just as important garages staying with classic cars inc stags and suppliers are profitable to supply parts

Trouble is with the way petrol prices are going I'm not convinced that cars like the Stag are going to increase in their appeal:?

Won't stop me enjoying mine though!
