Engine block question

Hi all,

I have had my Stag now for about 5 years now, but at the end of last summer I noticed coolant being forced out of the expansion overflow. A quick compression test and revealed the head gasket failure. so the heads had to come off. When I finally got them off ( what a job ) I noticed that the large inlet / outlet from the water pump appears that it should be divided in two but the dividing metal is corroded away. This passageway in the head is combined into one.
On the face of it this does not seem to be something I should worry about, but what do you guy's think?

Are we talking about the water pump cover here? a picture would be good.

Hi Bob,

It is not the water pump cover, it is the channel that looks like it takes the water from the pump through the block into the head. I will try and get a picture tomorrow.

That is just the way they were cast, any signs of an apparent divider will just be remnants of casting flash

Also some of the waterways between the head and the block are blocked off or restricted.
There was some talk a few weeks ago on this subject.

One member has opened up some of them,all very interesting reading..and in my opinion a very good mod..
