    Pop Rivet Gun Advice

I have a really cheap and nasty pop rivet gun which I have had for many years.
Its short nozzled and bounces when the rivet snaps, which sometimes dents the panel you are riveting to.i.e chrome oversills.

As I have quite a lot of riveting to do soon I am thinking of an air riveter.
I have never used one.Do they bounce in the same way or is the whole process a lot smoother..

    Grateful for any thoughts

I also do a lot of riveting using just the usual cheap gun. I have not notice a bounce problem. Are you using one of those concertina types?

      No Chris,just the standard type.
They just kick as the rivet snaps and I don't know if an air riveter or the concertina type works differently.

Air riveter if you've got lots to do, lazy tongs are good but its the access space, each has its benefits.
Have a look here and they are not that far from you (http://www.axminster.co.uk/pop-riveters-dept208213/)

You can also get a rechargable battery riveter which is easier than lazy tongs and you dont have to drag an airline around, however they are a little more expensive http://www.lawson-his.co.uk/cordless-riveters-c1241.

Don't know it is any good but this is a cheaper option.

Hi Sam, Practical Classics did a test of riveters (manual and air powered) a few months ago, if you want me to look it out I will.

The Body Guys at worked used them all the time and the Cordless ones, work very well although the Cordless are very expensive,
