These Scammers are everywhere. A nephew, who knows nowt about cars, asked what I thought of this Peugeot 504 covertible for sale in Le Havre. It was far too cheap and only a hotmail address, so I told him to avoid it. After a quick search I found the same car for sale in a Dutch classic car dealer. I reported it to the French website (not ebay) and they pulled the ad. Next day it was back on the same website, but this time it was located in Toulon, which is about as far away as you can get from Le Havre. The cheap prices attract the unwary, so these scammers make a living. I don't think some websites pay much attention to what people put on them.

Almost got pulled into this trap about 7 weeks ago when a guy was advertising Jag XK 2007 for what you woulkd really call daft money ( Cheap ), could'nt resist it so emailed him. But obviously the more I thought about it the more it smelled a bit fishy. Anyway I googled his email address and up came a load of complaints about a guy who was claiming to have an XK who had moved abroad and had to sell it quickly to pull back some cash.
Funny thing is he emailed me back telling me exactly what the google search had described, and how I should pay for it etc etc. Gave him dogs abuse on my reply and reported him to Auto Trader. Deffo a scammer, but for the unsuspecting it could be a huge dent in their pockets if drawn into such scams.

Is this another one? Certainly seems like it to me. I have my son's 2003 VW Golf for sale on Pistonheads (nice car, please PM if interested
) and have received these emails from an 'interested buyer':
First email: Do you still have this vehicle for sale?kindly get back to me with the present condition of the vehicle and the last asking prize?
To which I responded with further details of the car. Then this arrived from the same person:
Thanks for your mail. I could have come to you direct for the purchase of the vehicle. But i am a Naval Officer presently on duty on ocean. I wanted to buy this vehicle for my Dear husband, but i want it has a surprise Package to mark my loving husband birthday as well. I did not tell him that i want to buy this, but i want it as a surprise for my husband. presently am out of state... i will like to purchase at the listed price so that you won't sell to another .i really have interest in buying the vehicle and i'm not within your premises to pay cash, and PayPal is my only option which i think you accept,or if you can open a PayPal account, I'll be very happy to go on with this transaction? can you get the account ready.
I don't think I shall bother to reply again..............
