Seat Recovering and refoaming - Help needed!

I bought a set of seat covers and seat foams from Aldridge which arrived yesterday. So I'm stripping down the first seat and have run into some issues:
Firstly the covers came with no instructions and can't see any on their website. So I don't know if I glue the covers to foam etc.
Secondly the cover for the seat back has not got a hole (or trim piece) for the headrest hole - is this normal?
Thirdy, again on the backrest part of the foam kit there were two largish sheets of thin foam - does anyone know where they go?
Can anyone help with answers to these questions?

Hi Matt,

i have refoamed mine with new foams, there is also a good set of intructions from VMad on the technical section. They are a lot eaiser to do than you think. i have pics on my profile of them completed.

the covers are not glued to the foams, just the frame in certain places.

firstly take the seat out and split the back from the seat base. remove the seat adjustment frame from the bottom, clean it up and spray it silver with hammerite smooth.

try the seat base first as it is easier to do. The cover is just clipped onto the frame that's all, with a little glue, you will need good strong glue. Take note of how and where. If you do both at the same time use one as a guide as to how and where it is clipped and glued.

have you bought new diaframs too? you will need one for each seat as they tend to have perished.

for the back you will need to glue the foams onto the frame after a trail fit and a little trimming may be in order, inside backs first then the sides, fit all the foams then cut out the holes required, for the back release lever and the headrest, mine didnt line up quite right, i used a small hacksaw blade to do this.

Hi Matt.
No. Don't glue the cover to the foam.
You have to cut the hole for the headrest and fit the chrome surround to it..
I'm not sure about the sheets of foam.
Tip. Cover the foams with cling film when you're stretching the cover. It makes them slide better.

The sheet foam is optional; it can be glued onto the bolster foams to give a softer feel and better finish look.

Don't cut the holes until you are sure of position for obvious reasons.

The holes for the headrests should be cut a bit smaller than the chrome finisher ring. be careful levering the old ring off or the tabs will break off. Just ease them and pull out the old material.

Thanks for the advice chaps. I've put the seats into a local trimmers as I decided that I d make a hash of it. I'll give a progress report when I get them back.
