I had bought a pair of new mirror heads from rimmers for my Mk II as the original glasses were a tad knacked, and when I fitted them I still couln't see behind me as I couldn't adjust the mirror heads enough. Perusing the forum I found a reference to 'mirror adjuster rings', part no YKC2961INS. These are plastic bushes which fit between the mirror head and the adjuster nut and were £6.80 from LDparts. I ordered then on the evening of the 7th March, they arrived on the 9th, I fitted them and they gave enough extra adjustment to actually make the mirrors work for me 
. Usual caveats apply, no connection with LD other than as a very satisfied customer who doesn't need to change his original style mirrors
