    Coombe Abbey Hotel, Binley, Warwickshire

My darling wife wants to take me for a meal on my birthday to the DC6 Diner at Coventry Airport (a converted airliner) - this for obvious reasons is not a five minute journey from home.... so we were thinking of booking one of the suites at this place to kip down for the night.

Looks great in the pics, four poster beds etc, but these things can be deceiving... anyone stayed there recently? Any good?

If anyone has got any experience of this place please let me know as we can't hang about for too much longer before we would need to book..

    cheers

        I can recommend it.

Ensure that you stay in the Abbey itself rather than the modern annexe.

The Abbey is full of old world character - I guarantee your jaw will drop as you enter the reception area.

I've not stayed in the annexe but I understand that whilst it is very clean and comfortable it does not have the "wow" factor of the main house.

        Regards

Coombe Abbey Hotel is privately owned with a twin hotel in Chester le Street called Lumley Castle Hotel.
I've stayed in both and they are fabulous.
I remember booking into Lumley Castle, reaching my room to find no en-suite. So I phoned down to reception to complain on the grounds that I had booked an en-suite room. I was told to look into the smaller wardrobe in the corner of the room which was a concealed doorway into a large en-suite, almost like the wardrobe in "The Lion, the witch and the wardrobe". This concealed access to the bathroom is a signature of both hotels but only in the original buildings.
In a world of samey 6 sided soul-less corporate hotel rooms you will be impressed.

Stayed here with work a few years ago and been there since for a couple of corporate evenings/meals etc. - as previously said the old part is great and the rooms surprisingly spacious and comfy.
