Long term (6 week) battery disconnection (not Stag related)

If I take my Eurobox (Honda Accord etc) somewhere and then set off for 6 weeks on my touring bike the battery will get flattened by the immobiliser etc, so I will disconnect it and lock it with the key. As it has an electronic odometer I think the milage readings will be stored in an Eprom?

Does anybody know if there is anything other than the radio that will need to be reset when I return, or any other problems caused?

Why not use one of those solar battery chargers to keep it topped up?

      It all depends Al.

More modern cars tend to have a backup memory store however only a few years ago disconnecting the battery could lead to all sorts of difficulties.

I think you ought to check with a Honda specialist or vehicle electrician or check out a relevant forum if you can find one.

      Cheers

Yes. They only require daylight. Park the car and stick the panel in a south facing window and it will easily compensate for the minute drain caused by the immobiliser, etc. Assuming the battery is in good condition, that is.

I leave the Stag in the garage for up to three weeks at a time, with the radio memory and immobiliser connected. No charger, but she still fires first time on return. The runaround Honda I have whilst my Stag is being rebuilt also sits on the drive for at least two weeks and still starts first time. So yours should be fine with a solar charger connected.

Not saying there any good but some cars don't leave the ciggi lighter live when the keys are removed so worth checking how your car is wired regards trying to charge it this way.
