    Socket size please

    Hi
Could anyone please tell me what socket size I will need to remove the nut for the steering wheel.

    Thank you

    1 & 1/16 of an inch AF.
Thats what mine is, best to measure yours across the flats before you fork out on a socket, just in case.

Nambo's right of course, but a 22mm will fit. Martin.

        22mm is 7/8" Martin or are you saying it's not 1 1/16"

Generally, when nuts and bolts are specified, the thread is measured rather than the bolt head, 11/16 for instance is less than 3/4 inch, cannot be bothered to go and measure the inside of the nut, but thats probably what it is.
Still best for OP to measure across the flats with a ruler, just in case somebodies fitted a different nut.

On second thoughts I could be bothered, and indeed, 11/16 is the thickness of the thread the nut screws onto.

A 27 mm socket is just as good a fit by the way.

It's ok Martin, it was just your handwriting - your 7 looked like a 2

A 27mm is a good spanner to have around I have found. I'm sure it's an equivalent for an extinct British pipe size as it seems to come in handy when I mess with the water pipes in the house where, even in Germany, the older pipework is in inches.
                      The answer isn't 42, it's 1/137
