    Glenn,

I bought one a year or two back from Aldi I think. Plastic casing - it works, but not very robust. You might be better off with something like this: http://www.screwfix.com/p/angled-drill-chuck-10mm/39590

I used one to drill on of the holes in the manifold for the thermostat housing, in place. Worked well although essential to keep it at 90 degrees.

          Cheers

              Hi Glenn,

Just checked and yep, I've got a spare one that you're welcome to.

You won't be around tomorrow will you ? I've got to go to Glastonbury and I could bring it on down to you or we could meet up somewhere if you want.

Re my steering rack, as I'd only recently rebuilt my pump, I didn't really want to use the seal swelling leak stop stuff. As the leak got massively worse when I jacked the car up I realised that the gaiter had filled up (I know it shouldn't) but then overflowed out of a hole in the gaiter when the angle of the car changed. But this filling up could have taken years. I've drained the gaiter and rotated it so the hole (vent hole ?) is at the top.

It got through the MOT like that and I'm now going to keep an eye on it. I've never needed to top up the PAS liquid much.

              Cheers

              Julian

                  Hi Glenn,

That's a pity - I was half way to you this am but I don't think I can do Friday I'm afraid.

I'll try and call you later today or tomorrow.

                  Cheers

                  Julian

Hi,are you sure you need a drill?
When i bought a helicoil kit for the spark plug holes, the instructions said that you didn't need to drill the hole when helicoiling aluminium,,so i didn't and the tap worked fine without pre-drilling.
This saved me from obtaining a small or angled drill.
I have just bought the appropriate tap and coils for the power steering pump holes,so i'll try them without drilling also.
                      Hope this was useful,
                      regards ken.

Thank you Ken for your advise i did think of trying the tap straight off but the tap seems rather large to get straight in.

                        Cheers Glenn

Done my power steering helicoils today, one on each size,,,yes it can be a little tricky to start ,but once started(remember to use lubrication and to turn and then back off a bit)it is quite straight forward.
I also kept an eye on the tap depth + sucked out the swarf,as i was doing it,no drilling was required.
                          Ken.
