    Alarm & Immobiliser

Took the Stag (and SWMBO) down to Dartmouth yesterday for a few days away and am staying in what is probably the only hotel in town that has a car park. In the early hours of this morning I was half awake and heard a rumble of engine as a car drove off. Initial paranoia told me that my Stag had just disappeared but after a few seconds panic I realised that the rumble wasn't a TV8 burble.

So, the car is still in the car park but now the thought of a security system and immobiliser has moved up my priority list. There is a Microscan alarm installed by a PO but whenever it's armed it goes off even if someone walks past the car, and it has a pi55 poor siren. I know I could fit a 'secret' cut-off switch (or even switches) but would prefer a more complete solution that both acts as a deterrent (noise & lights etc.) and immobilises the car. Can anyone recommend a suitable system / answer that a near competent chap can fit ?

    Thanks

    Hi Mark,

I had a Cobra 4138 system fitted a couple of years ago, not sure I would want to try fitting on e myself though. It will not have any impact on insurance if you fit it yourself but doesn't sound like you want it for that reason. I had a mobile guy come and do it at my house for £400 all in which included having central locking fitted at the same time and is one of the best upgrades I have done. Took him around six hours to do and he knew what he was doing!!

I dont think any of these systems are secure, surely it is so easy to hotwire each circuit , takes minutes. For that money you could get a mappble electronic system with immobiliser which cannot be hot wired.

          So much for technology..... http://www.pistonheads.com/news/defa...?storyId=25953
I had mine pinched many years ago but they didn't get far.
Think outside the box... there are many ways to disable a stag....

I think I'd be pretty alarmed if I broke into a car and was confronted by a cobra

            Cheers

I'm more for a passive system myself, one that lets you in and start the car, but if you don't disable the alarm 5 seconds later a 6" sharpened spike fires up through the seat......................

                      Hi Dave,

It would seem that they are still available. The company that fitted mine still advertise them.
