This is the window switch that Dave (DJT) kindly sent me, the grubby one is mine, which looked exactly as Dave's did, and the other is Dave's now.

If you want to have a go yourself, the first surface was done with Brillo soaped pads, which got it even but dull, I left it for several months to see if it would revert, then machine polished with a stitched cotton mop and green wax, the second, using an unstitched swansdown mop, with "Dialux" plastic polish wax.
