Brake pads - Mintex M1155 versus M1144 versus EBC

After some internet research it seems Mintex M1144 or M1155 (better hot) are great brake pads and often better than greenstuff.
I am thinking of fitting M1155's.
Has anyone tried these pads and any comments on how they all compare? Ta - Jon

For everyday road use I'd pick M1144 every time, also they can cope with an occasional track day as long as you don't continue to hammer them when you get it to fade territory. As you say the M1155 are better hot and for more severe track day use but you compromise the "from cold" stopping which can lead to heart in mouth stuff at the start of journeys or after a long motorway journey when they've had a 70mph (cough) draft keeping them very cold for a long period.
The Greenstuff are more problematical again when cold but others on the forum seem to like them, what do I know ?

Be fair you are using them in a +20 deg temp over us (most of the time) and without the preponderance of motorway and fast dual carriageways we have in the UK !

OK Micky I'll give you the first one but your wrong about the motorway's we got one that run's all round the island (more or less ) but are you sure that 20deg is going to make that bigger difference when the car is left overnight when the temp is not that bigger difference (especially in summer)

I may well opt for M1144 next time, i have only ever heard good reports but i don't know of anyone (yet) who has used them on a Stag......if you do go that way some feedback would be greatly appreciated

I used 1144 on my Cobra replica, and to be honest I found the "cold bite" performance lacking for normal road use.

if you aren't experiencing pad fade on the standard linings, why change?

I've had a set of EBC Greens on the front of mine for the last 3 years, so far they have done 2000 miles around Europe, up and down Stelvio and other Alpine passes with no fade or problems and another 2000 miles around Britain mostly non stop with no issues, and the wheels stay cleaner as well!

Looking at the pads the other day, they still have plenty of wear left despite these 'excesses' to normal use.

I use Green Stuff pads on the Stag, which has 4 pot calipers fitted, and on the track day Midget. never had any problems, good from cold and consistant.

Thanks for all the feedback. I used to be a fan of greenstuff on many past cars, they were great on a camaro z28 and it sounds like many people like them on the stag, but after lots of fettling on a disco1, I changed from greenstuff to Mintex and the brake force was a lot better.
I've got 1144s on order now so will give some feedback when run in. Regards. Jon.

Fitted the Mintex M1144 brake pads yesterday and although I've a bit more bedding in to do, the first impressions are that the braking is a lot better compared to the standard APEC pads in there previously.

Pretty much my experience. Maybe I have been unlucky, but I have never been impressed with Greenstuff pads (in both my 205 GTi and a Renault Clio 172). M1144s in both gave superb cold bite (on a par if not better than the stock pads (Delphi pads in the 205)). The 205 brakes are superb stoppers even compared to the Porker which is on 928 GTS brakes up front.

Some aftermarket pads are terrible though (I remember on one daily the ABS wouldn't even work despite me panicking!

Do you have a part number. I am eyeing up M1144s for the Stag after the previous success of their pads.
