    copy right

Would it be a copy right infringement if I was to photoshop/alter the picture (colour number plate etc) for my use?

    Hi Sukh,

dependend on what you call "my use" I would say yes. But I'm not a lawyer.
To be on the safe side, I'd get a permit from the artist and pay a fee.

    Regards

If it is for your personal use, within the confines of your home, I don't see why not. After all, it is in the public domain, up on the web, available for billions of people to see, with no watermark or other copyright protection.

Why not have the real thing and get Phil Smith (Forum member) to do a painting of your car? He will do it from a photo. He has done mine and it is now hanging in my hallway.

The artist clearly has a keen colour sense.

Short answer - yes. The artist has copyright through his signature, that's why they sign them ( I asked the question in my Art class).
Whether he would bothered if you changed it only for your own use ? I try and think if somebody stole a part off my Stag but only so he could use it on his Stag would I be bothered ?You have to answer that yourself.

Given the money we spend on our cars does it matter the amount of money required here to buy the artwork legit ?

It would be nice if you bought the artwork. Down to you.

I'd get Phil to do one. That way you'd be supporting one of our own and you'd have a unique memory of your very own car

                        Cheers
