    Coachtrimmer's tip (comfy seats)

I've been recovering/refoaming the driver's seat using Messrs Alldridge's bits. The back is fine so I just ordered the vinyl base, which I thought was excellent + new foam for base and back. I managed the base fine but when I came to the back I went AWOL. As many know there are no instructions and while I have trawled this forum, frankly I chickened out when I found the foam bits are a poor fit.
So I trekked to a local trimmer - Catcott Garage, nr Bridgwater - who confirmed that while they have fitted many, even they find them tricky to get a perfect fit. Apparently their foam kit is for a Mk1 seat and it needs a lot of sanding, not cutting as I would have done, to get a smooth finish.
Anyway I left it to them - but one tip Brian there passed on is to use a core cutter to cut some holes in the Alldridge base as it will be too hard otherwise, but with holes you will sink in more and enjoy the comfort.
They also have a lot of Stag mechanical bits so Somerset owners not familiar to Catcott might find it worthwhile contacting them.
    Hope this helps.

Good tip I had my seats re upholstered a couple of years ago , I got them to use foam and felt padding inside , those seats are so comfortable now well worth the money
