    Edd,
Not the first time the bed comparison has been made. It was light-ish, very strong, and easy to assemble, four parts and eight bolts. Shame.

      Hi Edd

Sorry I don't have pictures of my shell on my dollies, but this is one of them I bought from machine mart.

      DSCN4587.jpg

For the front, I lashed a piece of wooden fence post to the squared off "V"'s (after suitable shaping to make them fitting flush). The front cross member was then lowered onto to the dolly. It was held in place by 2 pieces of timber at both the front and rear of the cross member and fence post which were held tightly to the cross member and fence post by 4 pieces of 12mm threaded bar.

The rear was more of a problem. Again a dolly was used and I made this frame.

This was lashed to the dolly, with the upper part of the frame fitting behind the diff bracket studs.
Because the frame had to be angled to fit flush with the boot and relied on the weight of the body to keep it in place, I made brackets which fitted around the dolly.

These were set to the wheel arches and via the holes you can see, lengths of 12mm threaded bar ran through the brackets up to the inner body via the shock absorber holes. By tightening the bars, this secured the dolly to the body and stopped the frame from moving.

It looked at bit Heath Robinson, but the shell was hauled onto and off the transporter and was wheeled around by the dippers without trouble. When I picked the shell up, refitting it to the dollies was straightforward as it was a case of just making sure the frame at the rear was in the right place then fit and tighten up the threaded bars and that the front cross member sat in the right place and then tighten the four threaded bars.

My transportation dolly is made , i used some cheap castors from a local company stax only about £8 each , the rest is timber i had spare from past projects. And some studded bar , just so happens i,m using it to chem fix to a wall on monday!
I had a spare cross member so that was usefull and my new diff mounting plate bolts fit snug into the holes provided in the timber ,I intend to link the two support via the transmision tunnel . So all in all it's a combination of all the ideas and cost me about £70 . I hope this idea might help someone in the future or some of the other excellent ideas already shown .

        Cheers Edd

I did this. I needed to get it on and off a car trailer so the track needed to be similar to a car and traverse gravel drives so big wheels important.
