Fitting Chrome Strip

Well I bought the new clips to fix the lower front Chrome strip in place. The strip isnt parallel to the edge it is fitting on to, probably by an inch. When I get the right side to lock on the left pops off. Had thought of drilling through the bottom and fitting a self tapper or even a small pop rivet. Unless there is another solution. Not happy driving it like this as it might pop off. Mike

Are you sure you have the right strip? offer it up to the others on the car to see if it fits better elsewhere.

Hi Mike, you've probably got the wrong clips, sadly the originals are like hens teeth and the replacements are next to useless. The answer is Tiger Seal, about six or eight one inch strips evenly spaced, then hold in place overnight with masking tape while it dries. Please don't drill holes. Martin.

Thanks Bob and Martin,
I have the correct strip. Will Tiger Seal pull off. I plan to have the car resprayed (Have said that for Four years now) Just wondering if it might cause more damage. Is it a mastic type adhesive?. Had thought of putting a dab of body filler where the clips would go and holding in place overnight Mike. (With tape or strap I'm not that dedicated I need my sleep.)

Sticks like hell but I believe the strips can be removed with care. Martin.

So scraped back the paint on the two outermost points of the lip applied a small amount of body filler pressed in the chrome clamped and left it. It will come off if i slide it one way then the other. Mike.
