    Am I being unreasaonable?

I have just had some panelwork done on my car and a respray, this was not a bare metal respray and I fully appreciate it was the outside of the car only. However, I am surprised to find that the inside of the new panels such as the rear wings have only been primed, this isn't going to offer any long term protection. What do you think, should these panels have been given a coat of topcoat or not?

It really depends on what you agreed with the paintshop.
I would have thought they should have given you the option if they knew they were not going to paint the back of the panels..
You could then have made an informed decision..

Also if you are talking about the part of the panel that is not seen,it is not unreasonable to leave it in primer. If its the wheel arch area etc then it needs a coating of either paint or shutz..

      Hi Ian,

most body shops will fit them without additional protection on the inside, based on the assumption that they can be given a good dosing of cavity wax afterwards which will protect them for longer than the factory fitted panels.

Some body shops will offer additional protection at a cost. If you've been following the thread on my car you will see that the inner surfaces of all the new panels have been given two coats of Hammerite on top of the primer (by me so no cost ) and then waxed prior to fitting. They will then be injected after final painting, so I don't anticipate them rusting for a while......

          Hi Ian

Try not to let it get to you.
You obviously now have a solid painted car,so the only way is up..
Just work through with lists(of jobs to be done),and it will eventually come together..

Galling to have to spend money to have work done you've already paid for though.

Agreed, but most paintshops do not paint the back of panels unless they are seen.
If you asked for it to be done then grizzle and try for a part refund..

No, I'm referring to other things like having to have my windscreen refitted as they completely bodged it and it leaks badly.

One problem is whilst welding some paints can catch fire. I have heard stories of a little fernace going inside panels. I used epoxy primer and zinc based primer on all my inside panels and weld through primers on welded joints That plus future cavity wax will do the job.
It would be lovely to see your progress
