Rev counter

Hi all, had my dash off today to check the bulbs in the instrument cluster, while i was at it i thought i'd have a clean. Now when i put my lights on my rev counter doesn't work, if i turn the rheostat down the rev counter works?? Any ideas?

The old saying comes to mind "if it ain't broke don't fix it"

However did you disconnect anything? if so you may have reconnected something in the wrong place. I've been looking at the wiring diagram in haynes and there seems to be a common connection to the tacho and night dimming contacts.Unfortunately it's one of those things I would have to see first hand to get to the root. My view is that a connection is broken or misconnected, sorry if that's no more help than your own thoughts:?
