    Refurbed Heads?

Whipped off my inlet manifold this evening in preparation for fitting Monarch manifold ready fitted with Holley adaptor welded on. Surprisingly all went well (especially when I realised one of the bolts I was scratching my head about getting to was the water pump cover and could stay where it was ) and the manifold was off.

Anyway I was surveying the scene and saw HRS604 stamped into the offside head. From that I'm assuming this is a set that Tony H's team has refurbed in the past so I've emailed him to see what they did (assuming they kept records) and what else they might know about the engine as the history file is a bit thin on this car. Be interesting to see if I get any good info.

    Cheers

          Hi Dave,
The stampings are on the top of the main face of the head that faces (forms, I suppose) the vee at the bulkhead end just under the cam covers. The n/s head stamping (HRS1003-it's the date Oct 2003) was a bit obscured by the dizzy which is why I didn't see it first time.

Tony checked his records and hasn't had my car in his workshop so he thinks they were probably heads he did for another supplier who either fitted them or sold them to be fitted. Either way if they were fitted in, say 05, they may not have done many miles (PO only did a few hundreds in 2 years).

I didn't ask if he stamped them all but I would have thought so.

          Cheers
