Black surround on dials (+TR6 Oil Gauge)

I've just 'won' this on ebay, so hopefully it will work OK, I've been after one for a while to replace what I think came from a Landrover.

Does anyone have any tips for touching up the black surround (especially the speedo) which is scratched in a few places, or would it be better to remove all the black for a cleaner look?

personal choice i think Kev, have a look at some of my pics it might give you an idea of chrome, i think it suits the car better, if you do go chrome i think i have another ring for the hazard switch somewhere if you want one

Tcut, easy to remove Kev, just time consuming, cleaned the glass with brasso

And I would be interested in your ring (ooh err) if you can find it.

Is that one of those stick on dashes Alan or the real thing? It does look good whichever.

it was the real thing Kev, but i have gone back to American Black Walnut now, as per original but new, i was never completly happy with it and thought it was too dark so changed it back, dab hand a dash's now, if you pm you're address i will post it, just had a look and i have one, thought i had, they are a bit small but i just fitted it with a small amount of sealer. Pic 6 of seats and carpets give a better picture of the dials.

                  Hi Kevin,

I got a TR6 gauge a couple of years ago but the bezel was so good it showed up my others so I bought a couple of new bezels from Alan to match my 'new' OPG, they were only a couple of quid

                  Cheers

Don't suppose you still have the dash or that it would be for sale?

I am sorry to break into this discussion, but my girlfriende mentioned yesterday that we should have had a chrome ring for the hazard switch (see my other thread with our new dash). I am not trying to snatch the ring from Kevin, just looking for a source to get it, dimensions etc.

if i'm honest i saw them in a chain of hotels i stay in on a regular basis, they were a fitting that was put into a hole and electrical cables were feed through on the desk, they sort of fell off if you catch my drift they are just the right size

                              Hi Kevin,
How did you do/get the 'low coolant' writing/sign in place of the seatbelt warning light, looking to do this mod for myself ?

                              Regards Paul
