    Alarming information

Hi all,I am fitting a keyless alarm system to the Stag at the moment and one of the connections is for window closing marked - output. I just wonderd if anyone has fitted a similar alarm and where they connect this wire to ?? Cheers Graham

    Graham.
You need to check what the output does when arming the alarm, does it go high or low momentarily or for a period?

you will need a relay box to switch your windows with an interface to match your alarm output.

Your call as to whether its worth it or not.

I'd have though it's for modern cars with fully automatic and computerised electric windows - that will respond to a "close" command before setting the alarm.
Simply isolate it - it's no use on a Stag - unless you have also fitted some kind of ultrasonic movement sensors that need a closed car.
I suspect that you've just got contacts for bonnet/boot/door closures, that won't be affected by whether the windows are open or closed.

Adrian - he could have dug deeper into his pockets (unlikely I know) and bought a microwave detector like I did... that works with the roof down as well

The output for the electric windows will be a pulsed output designed to trigger a modern cars auto close feature, I would not trust the thermal cut outs on the Stag to cope with this.

Cracked it, with the aid of a couple of change over relays, now the windows close when you activate the alarm

Well done that man. Reminds me, I really must overhaul my leccy windows as they travel at about a quarter of the speed of yours.

No - seriously - great job. Could you give any details on the make of the alarm system?

                      bye

Alarm electronics moniter the current draw of each window motor as they close and stop the motor when the window touches the top of the frame.
