    Any help or idea's appreciated

I have a lot of information about my car including a Heritage Certificate and photo copies of DVLA records but would like to find out who were the supplying dealer. This is the missing bit of the puzzle

From a very poor photo copy I have, It looks like the first owner was a Woman who lived in Pennine Grove Padiham nr Burnley (there is another word that looks like H???CLYDE in the address as well, any Ideas ?) She had it for about 5 months and then it passed on to a company (Guinness Peat Group Services LTD) that is still around although it has changed a lot according to Wikipedia.

It was was registered in Blackburn on 01/01/74

Are there any of you out there from that part of the country with a good memory. Who were the local Triumph Dealership

Any info you have would be greatly appreciated, living in hope

    Ian

    Hi Ian
Can't help sorry but it has reminded me of when we were at stoneleigh, i was messing around with my carbs and a nice gent who must have been in his late 70's stopped for a chat, i wish i had asked him for his phone number because he said he used to be an engineer for triumph and worked on stags at canley factory.
I bet his head is full of info that we all could mull over.

Hello Ian have you tried speaking to company's house to see if they have any records of triumph dealers in the area at the time your car was registered.A long shot I know but worth a call,or speak to a motor museum and they might be able to give you some tips on how to find the info you would like
          Happy hunting

Item 9 (Destination) on my Heritage Cert. says who the dealer who originally sold my car was.

                Mark

                It states "Not recorded" Mark.

The address Pennine Grove in Padiham is still current (You can see it on google maps) and there is a house with the name "Higher Slade House" on Pennine Grove but only in the aerial view not on street view..... exact addresses on street view are usually way off to protect privacy etc,,,

                      Thanks Neil,

I have already Google mapped the address, I also have a house number but didn't pick up on the house name and i think you may be right. I'll have to have a look again.

I'm not sure about writing to the address as it was nearly 40 years ago and as Dave (DJT) has said, I wouldn't want to upset anyone.

I spent an hour or so today researching Triumph dealers that would have been local but have found nothing yet.

                      Thank for looking though.

                      Ian.

Ian have a look at zoopla and see when the property was last sold, if the owner is still there i bet they would love to hear from you, all the contacts i have made have been positive, send it recorded delivery with a sae and photo, that way you will know that it was delivered and the reply will cost them nothing, the worsted you can yet is bugger off. i have not heard of anybody getting that result.

Ian I worked at Tom Mitchell (Blackburn) Ltd, Drill Hall Works, King St Blackburn, they were the main Rover, Triumph, Daimler Dealership. I started there in 1966 as office junior aged 15, at 16 I was promoted to sales secretary to the sales manager and 3 salesman. I used to order new Triumphs from Hollingdrakes at Stockport and it worked on a sale or return basis. Super place to work like a big family. That was the days of 'log books' the history of the car in your hand at a glance all the owners of the vehicle. Taxing cars was different back then I used to go to Blackburn Vehicle Taxing office and ask for a block of new registration numbers, you could look to see what numbers were available and try and pick good numbers. Customers who purchased new cars could pick their own registration number from the block you had been allocated if they wished. If your car was registered by Tom Mitchells Blackburn it would have a Blackburn registration number ie: BBV, BBC, ABC, PBV etc. If we didn't have the colour of car the customer wanted I would telephone around other Triumph dealerships and see if they would swap with us. Happy Days. Regards Lynn
