    Power steering oil

Hi guys have a prob with the steering when she warms up, the steering is getting hard.
Have checked the belts and all the usual stuff, so iam thinking ive put the wrong oil in.
At the mo she has castrol ATF in but i also have castrol AQF, question is which one is best.
The AQF looks thicker to me so would that one be better, or have i got it all wrong.
I did find an old post but there didn't seem to be an end answer lol
    Many thanks

AQF is the one i have used, but am pretty sure you can use either
i wouldnt have thought the oil is your problem , maybe the pump is giving up !

Hi Vince, according to the ROM you use the same in the auto box. Not sure if that helps?

Hi Vince, any ATF will do, even Dexron, but NOT in the trans. Can you turn the wheel when stationary ? does it make any noises ? Any big leaks from the rack ? if not, sounds very much like the pump. To empty the reservoir before removing the old one, get one of those hand wash pumps, Carex etc. stick a piece of tube into it to extend, and with a bit of wriggling you can get almost the last drop out of the pump. Prepare for the spare pump to be shot as well. Check that both pumps have the identical pulley centre fixing, they're not transferable. God luck. Martin.

That sounds normal, but obviously only you know how much assistance you've lost. Try t'other pump. M.
