HI Sohail,The brother in-law had his rebuilt at mates rates and with parts it was about £2500 ,so if you go with Dieter i dont think he will be far wrong £3500. Have you looked in the wanted section WB50 had one fully rebuilt for sale a couple of weeks ago. Hope you get sorted. Paul.
I think you must really find out what is included in that £4000, otherwise it's asking for the opinion of the price of a piece of string.
The list can be very short (new rings and check other bits for wear) or extremely long. The list of "possibles" which may be included is as long as the parts manual but the company needs to tell you, for example:
in addition to the standard "crankshaft reground and new shells provided".....
new valves? what type?
valve seats cut?
new guides? what type?
new oil pump?
new pistons? or just rings? Be aware that correct pistons for your engines may not be available any more
new timing gear? what chains?
what is with ancillaries? Carbs? Dizzie? Water Pump?
block faced?
inlet manifold faces skimmed?
flywheel faced?
clutch?
What happens if something untoward is discovered - say a bent con rod. Is the £4000 a cover all eventualities, or could additions creep in?
