radiators

[new to this]

im going to fit a header tank, but would like to have a pipe oulet on the radiator,where would i go to have one fitted

Dave, all I did was use a 22mm solder ring connector like this

I preheated it to remove all the solder in the rings and then used a hole cutter on the rad and soldered it in place.

I used a brass elbow--1/2"bsp male(screws directly into top of rad)with a 15mm compression tail,,from wickes,screwfix etc'.
This works well as you fill it up from the new expansion tank(I used a tank from a rover 75 by the way,,cost a fiver from a scrap yard.)

i have a HRS radiator, and the top of the rad is a bit high to fit a compression tail in there

It was electrical soft solder.

Dave if you use plumbers solder get the lead free solder a little more expensive but flows much better.

In my 33 years experience,,I found the (green) unleaded solder needs a little more temperature, than the old leaded solder,before it melts.
Use the unleaded though as it may be a bit tougher, for your job.

Dave, are you looking for a feed to the inlet of your header tank or a feed from it?

For a feed to the tank you could use a 32mm tee into the top hose.

Sorry Chris I am now totally confused.

Surely the tank feeds the system, not the other way round unless your tank is below the water level when it would be a footer tank.

Why do you need a 32 mm pipe?

I believe Dave is plumbing his tank in what I believe is the correct way, feed from tank into lower part of rad and vent from top of rad.
