    Door order of assembly.

So tomorrow, I will probably assemble my bare doors.

If somebody knows off the top of their head, best order of assembly, might save me a lot of stress.

Iam guessing I start off with putting the weather strips on first, then the door handles?

As far as I recall, I proceeded as follows-
    External handle on
place motor in door base, leave loose
    install glass & glass frame
    install weather strip
    attach motor
    attach quarter light gearing
    attach window bump stop
    attach lock plate
attach internal handle, lock levers etc
    job done

      Hi Pete,

My doors were built up on Friday. I bottled out of it as I didn't fancy the task for fear of damaging the new paint..........

The bare doors were fitted to the car and roughly aligned. Then as I recall, Andy fitted the handles first, along with the lock unit. He then put the windscreen motor into the bottom of the door and left it there. Next went in the window frame. This was a two-man job as it is a tight fit and paint damage is highly likely as it is passed through the opening between the doorskin and doorframe. The glass was installed into the window frame and held there with tape before fitting to the door. The windscreen motor was then lifted up into position and fixed to the door panel, and the plastic wheel fitted into the runner. The lock operating catch was next, and the rods connected to the lock. Finally the window seal and chrome trim were installed using the correct tool to lift the clips into place from above.

Once the door was fully loaded, final adjustment could be done to ensure alignment of th swage line and correct operation of the catches and locks.

As I was busy doing other things, and only keeping a watchful eye on what was happening, I may have omitted some detail, but this is the gist of the way I saw it done.

Cheers guys, I can tell tomorrow is going to be a great day.

Couple of other questions, the painter had removed the rubber bump stops, took me a while to remember where I had seen then from.
Am I correct in remembering that the two screws that hold them are visible from underneath/outside of the door? You see, I cannot see the locating holes, maybe somebody could do a measuring with a ruler in case I have to re-drill them, they are wedge shaped, does the pointed end of the wedge point to the inside of the car or the outside?

I also took the motors apart to service and paint them, do the springs fit with a half turn compression on them or are they initially a loose push on fit?
