Discovery #1: when you hear a fast fluttery rattle behind your ear, it might be the fuel pump sucking on air.
Discovery #2: there is not enough fuel in the carb bowls to get me from the garden centre to home once the fuel pump starts to rattle.
Now, luckily, as I spluttered to a halt, with the realisation of Discovery #1 sinking in, a fellow local Stag owner stopped for me and gave me his spare fuel can, what a nice man! (of course I refilled it and took it back later, what kind of person do you think I am?). Then I made
Discovery #3: If there is no hose connected to the splash/overflow drain in the filler recess, then any fuel you do splash there ends up in the boot. Oops. Naughty previous owner!
The aforementioned kind fellow Stag owner, in between chortles, told me I shouldn't ignore the low fuel warning light for too long. "Light?" I said. "Never saw one". So later, after thanking the Triumph engineers for making the dash so easy to pop out, I made
Discovery #4: If the bulb has blown in the warning light cluster for low fuel, it won't give much warning of low fuel!
