Hello I am a new member and my name is Shaun. I live in Cyprus and I was thinking getting a getting a classic convertible for cruising around the island. A four seat V8 Triumph Stag fits the bill and it is a car I have always liked for its looks and sound. I am at present in the UK and I will be staying in Plymouth for 2-3 weeks. This should give me some time to look at some cars and speak with Stag owners. One question, and there are many flying around my head, is given the nice climate and high temperatures of Cyprus! Could a Stag handle it?

I live in North Queensland and we experience high temps here 35C plus in the summer. My Stag copes well, and I run aircon as well. I can only reiterate what has been said before make sure the cooling system is well maintained. I would also add an electric cooling fan to the stock system. I run the electric fan only as it is also used to cool the condenser. I would also consider seat covers because those seats warm up very quickly!
Cheers,
Raoul

A Stag will look mighty fine parked outside Chris' Kebab house.
From what I have learned about the car a good, well meaintained cooling system with a few sensible mods (Kenlowe fan, header tank) and good quality anti freeze should mean the problem of overheating is less of a worry than you might think.Paul - 3 projects, 1 breaker - garage built and housing 2 white Stags. One runs, one doesn't

If you are in Plymouth for a few days, I would suggest paying a visit to Andy Moss at http://www.amrestorations.co.uk/
Andy is the Devon SOC Coordinator, and is the local Stag guru. (He often has Stags for sale too..)
Cheers

Many thanks for all the reply’s. Looks like I am on the right track.
I have touched base with Andy Moss yesterday! He answered a lot of my questions and is well knowledgeable on the Stag; no doubt he will hear/see me again with more questions. He has taken my number and details and will hopefully return with some news soon.
Cheers Shaun

Out of curiosity if you purchase a Stag in the U.K., and decide to drive it to Cyprus, what route/ferries would you take?
Graham (Staggard) has already said that the Tenerife Sun has no harmfull effects on the car, but as others have also said,
make sure the cooling system on the car is in good working order, and I would say that an additional "electic" fan is a must in a hot Country.

Red pigment is the least stable of all the colours and will deteriorate quickly in strong sunlight - turning either chocolate brown or chalky white.
Go on; ask me what colour mine is and where I intend to take it? Yup, it's Red - Southern France.
However, as mine currently spends most of its' time in the garage (in the UK) demanding constant attention, it's still quite shiney

With reference to Paul Roberts post, white is a good colour to have in a hot Country, although Graham's French blue one looks nice even if he does say it needs a respray. Never seen any yellow ones here in Tenerife, nor in New Zealand when I was there, although WestFalling opted for yellow on his.
