Fulfilling an ambition

Some of you know I've been working towards getting my HGV licence for a while now and today I passed my CE test (used to be class1)
it's something I've wanted to do for some time but had always made excuses to myself. Anyway now to see where it leads me, hopefully a change from bike instructing will do me good.

Hgv driving is like giving up smoking you never lose the urge to do it.
I gave up 9 years ago because the traffic was doing me in but there is something about the job thats always pulling me back, not that i have yet lol

I put loads off in my life, my teeth was one but now happily only a couple of months short of completion finally, my bike test - still trying to slot that one in, and pilots licence....that one is more of an issue now that my health isn't what it was, but dabbling and seeing if I can do it without upsetting the wife and it being worthwhile only being able to fly in UK airspace because of NPPL restrictions (NPPL has less strict medical requirements).

How long ago did you get your Cat C ! that was something I always meant to get round to doing and the only category on my licence not held.

I have done lot of lorry driving over the years with breakdown trucks as they used to be exempt but I believe that's changed now.

I won't be renewing my PCV either when it's due for renewal in two years as I won't ever use it and the CPC rules now make difficult to keep just for the sake of it.

Ironically, I'm from a family of hauliers and spent every school holiday with my old man going up and down the country as all my Uncles and my Dad were owner drivers but I broke the mold and wanted to be a mechanic, they benefited from that though

On another note, I had a nice man pointing a radar gun at me on Monday on the A303 so am waiting to see if I got done, I was doing about 75ish in a 70 so fingers crossed. I keep telling myself he would have come after me if he wanted a word

I did C at the beginning of April,it took a while to get a slot for CE.
You won't lose your D you just do a medical to get it back if ever you need it, plus of course 35 hours of nonsense .

Enjoy the roads im quite luckythat our waggongs are cpc exempt but just had to renew my licence every 5 years with new photo.
Must put a claim in for that one.

As for yesterday; all the way to Aberdeen and back (4 flights) for a 40 minute meeting with my Line Manager's boss! They will let me know the decision within 7 days!
