    Weber Installation

Well the Weber went in OK. Can't get tick over under 1,000 Rpm. As mine is an auto this causes problems. Are there only 2 fuel adjusters and one speed adjuster on the Weber.

My first thought is fuel pressure may be too high. I have an SU pump does anyone know if these can be adjusted? Or should I try to get a regulator from somewhere. Could I fit a variable resister to the positive feed for the fuel pump. Blooming frustrating as summer is going to end in about eight hours.

Hope someone can help. Can't get hold of Chris Spain. Mike

Fuel pressure wont do it. Something else is wrong like throttle cable no slack, but because its non standard fitment you are down to looking and poking about until you can get the idle down

Check the choke idle lift ,and the linkage where it gets very close to the inlet manifold.

I had to file the snail shaped cam where it fouled the inlet manifold. I needed to fit a return spring as well.

Check that the correct unused ports are blanked off.

Try googling redline Weber, who list the correct way to set the carb up.

Turned out to be the lift between the choke and the throttle . Sorry original message had too many 00000s. Now sorted I hope. Engine seems alot lighter and more responsive. Now to get the mixture sorted. Thanks to every one . Mike

As Kryten says its a DIY fiddle. On mine I found the stag pump couldn't deliver enough fuel at high revs and after the second time my engine coughed from fuel starvation I went onto the webcon website and bought a carter4070 rotary vane fuel pump which solved that problem. From that I learnt that the weber carbs like high flow low pressure pumps which the carter is (my last name is carter so read what you will into that one!). I also removed the bung on the fuel return and fitted a return fuel line to avoid any chance of flooding which has also improved hot starting. Based on the webcon website this pump is the right match for the carb so delivers fuel at the correct consistent pressure. A downside of the pump is that it's loud compared to the SU pump, but then again so is my exhaust I'm I'm not too concerned.
