    Conversions/restorations and the DVLA?

I am a newbie looking for a Stag and I am open to all engine types with the right car. I am looking to import a Triumph Stag into Cyprus, as this convertible is the car I want in the sun! However when you import a car into the country they are very particular on log book numbers, they must match up. A converted Stag with a replacement engine must have the engine number registered in the log book. Do all members have the correct information registered with the DVLA. If the body colour or engine has been replaced and is not correct on the DVLA database the vehicle is probably un-insured (so I have been told). Could any member confirm this? I would hate to hear of a cherished Stag being uninsured when a member tries to file claim!

Imho the numbers on the car should match up with the log book. I would be wary of buying a car if they didn't . Insurance claims could quite rightly be rejected if the numbers dont describe the car being claimed for.
