More Electric Issues Again

Hi Everyone

Well just when I thought I was going to have a trouble free summer "yeah right"?

Today my Stag will not start,over the last couple of weeks while out & about in my Stag it started to cut out while driving or would cut out then restart while driving? Just before it would cut out I could here a clicking as if something was shorting out coming from the passenger's side footwell, perhaps where the fuse box and relays are.

I turn on the ignition,but the fuel pump fails to start as if its not getting any power?,the indicators don't work,but the Hazards do? also the fuel gauge & brake lights are not working.Because the fuel pump is not working car will not fire up.I have checked the inertia switch,fuses etc which seem fine.

Last year I had a misfire which led to me changing,points,condenser,leads,coil,dis-cap,I have for the passed 3 hours been checking threads on the forum,but any advice would be much appreciated

Hi Cliff, first, check the ignition controlled relay, then ditch the points for electronic ignition. Almost certainly that relay, unusual but not unheard of. Martin.

Thanks,where can I find the ignition controlled relay,is it on the relay board under the passenger parcel shelf?

Yep there are 2 of them Cliff,you should be able to hear/feel them energize when you switch on the ignition.

Hi Cliff, had exactly the same thing myself. Tried a new ignition relay, wasn't that. Turned out to be the block connector on the steering column. When i wiggled it i heard the relay clicking. Connector was all cruddy. Easy fix. Might be worth a look if it's not the relay in your case. Cheers, jools.
