    Valuation

    Hi Peeps
Just had a valuation done by my insurance folks, i was smiling when it came back, nice and high .
Do these valuations have any influence when trying to sell a stag.

Hi Vince, I think they help but I personally think they are a little ambitious. But if you are looking at a total loss situation it does give you the spending power to go to one of the high end specialist for a replacement car.

Just had mine back from the club valuers. The form asks for your own estimate of the replacement costs and, strangely, the valuation is the same. Happened last time too. Am I an expert, or does the club service just rubber stamp the owners guesstimate?

That's an interesting observation Dave, mine came back a month ago with exactly the same valuation as my own estimate as requested on the form. What worries me is that some Stag owners I know had theirs valued by TSSC valuers at the SEM a couple of weeks ago and their values were 5k higher than mine for cars in similar condition. Now feeling I've done myself out of a higher value and considering having it revalued by the TSSC as at least they see the car in person!

Also need to check with RHS if they accept a TSSC valuation.

My insurance company (Lancaster) require at least 6 recent large pictures covering body, engine bay and interior. and photo copy any paperwork, bills etc for work done and parts. every 3 years.

Then base the valuation on that. they currently value my car at £13500 which I am quite pleased with.

                    Ian

I think the Club scheme needs to change with the times personally, unless its changed they won't insure an un garaged car, and I thought they were there to help members not exclude them. Only my views

Kind of agree with you Ian, the SOC scheme is too limiting in several respects. Although I'd rather have the old girl valued by an expert, providing you haven't told any porky's, they do stand by the valuations. Under £15k most are not that concerned.
Dave, after what you've done, I'd go looking elsewhere. Martin.
