Do the stags have liners fitted ? Reason I ask is I have a spare MK1 engine that I want to rebuild but no 7 cylinder looks to be pitted near the top of the cylinder. The other cylinders are fine and will probably hone OK, but if I have to rebore it I will have to do all 8 I think. I'm having it checked out later in the week but I was hoping if needed I could fit a new liner and keep the original pistons.

If it is, how many push-ups required ready for the big lift?
He has a requirement like this so I am led to believe:shock:
Repairing one cylinder with aliner is viable, but viability probably runs out vs s/h block after a couple.:P
There are 2 secrets to staying on top :- 1. Don't give everything away.

The cylinder is bored out to accept a new lining which is then itself bored to a standard size cylinder. Will save reboring 8 cylinders and having to buy 8 pistons as the standard size ones can be used. Just need to hone the other cylinders and fit new rings. The liners are pressed in using a large press so can't be done at home.
This is the original engine that was removed due to a stuck head . However after 10 years and a bit of a tap with a mallet off it came. So I'm going to rebuild it and fit it as the 'new' engine drinks oil at an alarming rate.
Must be easier than doing the rebuild in place and less downtime.
