    Dashboard red light

Hi I have a red light that has come on the dash board middle of speedo and rev counter at the top, it used to come on when the ignition was switched on then when the engine was started it would go out, now it has stayed on I switched off and the same thing happened went for a drive came back switched off started it up again and now it has gone off again,? all of the other lights on the warning light cluster went out as they are should do including the ignition light, I am not sure what this light means as i have looked in the book and the only light i can see in that position is a seat belt light?? Thank you Martin

Didn't Steve (stagdad) answer this for you? its a warning light to alert you that one of the 2 brake circuits has failed but is also earthed through the oil switch so acts as an additional oil pressure warning light. I would suspect you have an intermitant electric fault if it is coming on randomly but keep an eye on your brakes and oil pressure.

Then they must have put the seat belt warning light in its place in the Mk.2s?

Sort of, they stopped fitting it, the Seat belt light is lower down and fitted a smaller light on the R/H side.
