    Strommies to Weber

    Hi there,
    Just a few piccies and vids of the swap over process from Strommies to Weber. First start included.
    For any noobs out there considering doing it, this might show you how easy it is and give you some confidence!

    I'll have to video the next set of recon Strombergs I fit... including first start and tweaking.. just so you know there is a standard alternative that doesn't have to be feared

    Just consider me traditionalist

          I like the idea of members videos and their handy tips to help people like me with all the jobs and potential conversions that crop up during Stag ownership. So thanks. I wish all the videos and peoples top tips etc were all in one place on the forum and categorized. It would save all the time spent searching for the help needed. I use the forums search engine to find information on issues as they arise on my car and maybe I'm doing it wrong but it seems to take me forever to find what I'm looking for.

            Check out that ridiculous plumbing! There for a reason ( crankcase ventilation ) or is it b****ks never thought of that. I would also tidy up the fuel piping ( look's under strain ) before you have a Stag BBQ

                Certainly check to make sure the fuel pipe is not under tension, especially when the engine rocks when you blip the throttle. Also you need to sort the camcover breather at the very least into the base of the air filter.

                  thanks for the contructive feedback guys.

                  Hi Tanya, the throttle cable was in poor condition and snagging so I have a replacement on the way.

                  Good tips on the fuel line.. its a bit tight so will replace that before I drive it.

                  As for the crank case ventilation, yes I know I need to do something there but am still researching and deciding what to do. No biggie in the short term.

                  As for why I changed over? Well it was running like a bag of dicks with the Strommies on it and I had the choice to either become an expert in a complicated Carb or pay someone else and become dependent on them. Alternatively, I could do what I did. I want to keep this car for ever and pass it on to my 3yo, It just makes practical sense.

                  As for why I Video'd it.. Well refer Owl Mans comments above. There are people with all range of mechanical abilities floating around. I'm way at the bottom end but learning. Sometimes its good to see that that an inexperienced person can do something you are considering and it might just give them the confidence to give it a go themselves.

                  I'm interested in the "Anonymous" sniper that left a comment on my blog, clearly from this forum. Something about weak mixtures and exploding pistons.. Its currently running rich (I can smell it and plugs are black) and I will be tuning it with an A/F meter, so not sure what the risk is?

                        Posting behind anominity is gutless, obviously set up by someone who is trying to discredit those who highlight problems in the kits. There are a number of us on the forum who have openly stated the problems and how we can or have overcome them, we do not hide behind anonimity (still can't spell it).

                        The AFR meter will help you set it up correctly, you may find that jetting Is now correct. My gripe always has been that we have to buy expensive equipment to check what should have been supplied correctly in the first place.

                          If I was of a suspicious nature, I would say someone was trying to make it look like I wrote it! Like John, I have been very open about my opinions and have been admonished many times for openly stating them.

                          This may have been done by someone with a different agenda to just plain criticism, in my personal opinion, but for anyone who thinks it was me, think again!
