Back on the road - At last!

At last I sorted the clutch problem, it was just a bit of miss-alignment of the bellhousing (never had such a problem before) but I undid all the bolts on the BH and put a jack under it with a block to lift it slightly, while forcing a large round screwdriver into the hole just above the slave cylinder mountings. I think from what I read the specially designed LD bolt goes in the 3" long hole at the bottom but this did the trick; with the screwdriver in there this got that one hole properly lined up and I then did up tight the bottom bolts then worked my way around to the top having fitted a bolt where the screwdriver was once the first 3 were tight. No sticking clutch anymore - it is sharp but then it would be more so being new.
Now I've got it all done I thought I'd post some photos of the mod's I made along the way, namely some heat shield to stop the tubular manifolds melting the cables/power steering pipes on the RHS of the bay before I did this the RH side was cooked!

and some on the left to keep the heat away from the side - It looks a lot neater than in the photos and certainly does keep the heat at bay,

Also, a photo of the pipe leading into the air filter from the catch tank which vents straight into the mouth of the Holley

it stops any fumes coming back out of the filter at idle.

Here's a shot of the catch tank now hung from the LH turret:

Just looking forward to some good sunshine now to make the most of it!

    Cheers!

Well done Mike. I'm back on the road today as well

Some of your photos don't appear. Only the last one of the catch tank.

      Congrats Al!

Uploading photos on to this site is worse than having teeth pulled!

I'll put the rest on separately I think....

      Sorry!

And these are from left to right

General engine shot with catch tank just in view on LHS
Middle picture is of the new earth lead and some brilliant quick release battery terminals I got from Halford's, they eliminate all the problem with corrosion as the terminal is completely covered but they are also rleased just by flipping the cover up.
RH picture is of the second earth lead I've now put in which is half the old lead re-ended and bolted to the engine front and body - I have no desire to have a bad earth any time in the future!

That's about it for now save to say I have no leaks anywhere oil or water and I cured the leaking gearbox too - it was the selector rod seals (think I may have mentioned this in an earlier post).

          I'm happy!
