BW35 Linkage clip

Today, thankfully at home, I lost all auto gear selection on the BW35.
As luck would have it, the clip was lying under the car and the car is moveable so
it looks like it was in Neutral when it came off.

Not sure why the clips would just come off so I will order
a couple just in case they are gettig old. Any ideas why this should just
just happen?

I hate going under jacked up cars but had a quick look and it does not seem possible
to reach the top clip without taking off the exhaust. Is this assumption correct?

Same thing happened to me. Was actually at a national day, pulled up, popped into reverse and nothing, back into drive and nothing.
Jacked her up and noticed the gear selector rod loose. Was in the right place, bought a new clip while at the show and fitted it while there.
Access was easy, didn't have to remove the exhaust thats for sure!
