    Weber Carb Throttle Linkage

Just fitted the rejetted Weber Carb I bought of Koy23 and first impressions seem good however I'm not too keen on the throttle linkage setup and wondered if anyone who had fitted the carb to a manual car had come up with a mod or alternative setup to the linkage supplied with the carb?

hey, I've just fitted mine. What were your main concerns on the throttle linkage?

    Cheers
    Justin.

      Hi Dave.

I never messed with the linkage, apart from filing the snail cam part so it didn't foul the manifold.

You have what I had originally supplied to me.

The big air cleaner hides it.

        Hi Justin
Its the U shaped adaptor that the throttle cable fixes to/through that concerns me, it is a poor fit to the carb linkage via the clevis pin and has caught on the adaptor plate a couple of times causing the engine to tick over at high revs. Think mine is an early kit as I bought it second hand and the newer kits may have an improved fitting. I can mod mine but thought if anyone had come up with a viable alternative I would copy it, why reinvent the wheel.
        Cheers Dave

Ah ok. Mine was ok and as long as you trimmed the retaining pin I cant see what would snag. Let me know if you want a pic.

          Cheers

            Dave.

This was it when fitted to my car, naturally you won't have the left hand part of the linkage. I fitted a return spring as it sometime idled around 2000rpm. I thought the kickdown cable was preventing linkage returning to idle, but thinking about it now it was probably helping. So suggest a return spring is necessary.

            Hope you enjoy it.

            John.

John you have a large amount of slack on your autobox control. Does it kick down ok? I had to modify mine to bring it closer to the cam. Mike

                Mike.

You are right, that was a "just fitted but not tested" photo. I had to change the link piece to a shorter one and generally lose slack.

Thanks for the pic John, it's not going to be a problem to mod the throttle linkage, I think due to it being a manual the lack of kick down cable allows the U shaped adapter to sag a little which has caused it to snag. I noticed there was a spring in the kit you sent so I may also use that to stiffen up the linkage after modding it. Carb seems fine although I've not taken it for a run as I only fitted it yesterday evening and wanted to improve the linkage before I took it out on the road, so time will tell. My Gunson Exhaust gas analyser seems to be playing up as I'm getting negative readings, typical just when you want it to work it plays up.
