    stuck throttle?

    hi guys

stag is starting fine from cold but once engine is warmed up it is driving without any input from me at roughly 20 mph with revs at about 1000-1200. Then when I put auto gearshift into neutral or park the revs shoot up even more. Oh and then starting from hot is much more difficult, presumably because of flooded engine?

Please can someone tell me what to do. It is driving me nuts!!

    Thanks

I had this a few weeks ago on my manual, someone said, oil the throttle linkages did that and all fine again

Your idle speed is too high.Needs to be about 750rpm on idle.
That should sort out your driving itself issue.

Hot starting if it is the carbs can be caused by heat, flooding etc .
If you are not confident in doing the repairs yourself you need to get someone (who knows about Stags or strombergs) to do it for you..

Before you start adjusting your idle speed, try putting a blob of grease between the fast idle screw head and choke cam on the L/H carb. it sounds like it's not releasing when you come of choke. Especially if it was fine before.

Sounds more like a stuck choke than a stuck throttle. Graham

If those suggestions don't sort it try pulling the 2link rods off and see what idle you have then, if its ok its not your throttle stops but something to do with the linkage .maybe the link rods have been badly adjusted .you didn't say if it was running ok before now.

Thanks Ian I will give that a go - this seems like the most likely explanation, Car has just been put back on the road after being on SORN for six months - it was fine before, at least most of the time

Had a chance to check it all out properly today - the choke was stuck at LH carb. I have lubricated everything in sight and it all seems fine now. I also wonder whether it was caused by me pulling out the choke too far.
