    Stag colour problem ?

    Hi all,
I have recently purchased a 1972 stag in the colour brown.
However the colour code is 19 ( white).
The previous owner has lost the file on the car he got when purchased by him .??
The car has at sometime been taken back to a shell repaired with new panels ? And dipped prior to re painting. Therefore the body is excellent no rust anywhere.
Anyway on page 20 of the June issue of the stag magazine bottom right is a picture of a stag in the same colour. I thought russet brown , but on testing this against the car it was far to dark ?.
Can anybody through some light on this or even better a colour code so I can touch up a few chipping marks.
Many thanks from a new stag club member.

    Regards

    Cylo7

            Hi, and welcome.

Sounds as if someone finally put a top coat on the white base coat.........

There were three shades of brown used on Stags - Siena Brown (23 - 1972-1974), Maple Beige (73 - 1974-1976) and Russet Brown (93 - 1977). Maple is the lightest of the browns, so it could be that which you have.

Actually, the lightest shades of brown are Inca, Mimosa and Saffron

It's always possible that your car isn't painted in a Triumph colour at all. ( and I don't mean white).

Mine started life as British Racing Green which is what I thought it was when I bought it. However four different BRG touch ups, from very professional paint suppliers, are all slightly different from my car, and from each other

When I had my hardtop repainted, the bodyshop mixed a perfect matching colour which is what you may well need to have done.

With Triumph not existing any longer, there is no definitive, accurate information as to the exact colours any longer unfortunately.

                          Cheers

                          Julian
