Julian did a hood for me (using black Renovo) which had faded to light grey. The result was generally very good and he made an excellent job of it.
The downside was that the stain soaked through on the stitched seam areas and bled on to the nice beige headling..
Renovo were not the slightest bit interested and only offered to sell me another of their products to possibly remove the dye..
Hope that helps

Hi Graham, it depends to some degree on whether your hood is Double Duck or Mohair, if Mohair, try the Renovo re-proofer rather than the colour, that may well restore the original colour, I doubt you could successfully change the colour without some clever know how, as Sam says, it'll bleed through the stitching.Martin.

Graham,
I don't know what mine is made of but I did mine with Renovo 4 years ago. Mine was Blue and I re did it in Blue, It's very messy and gets everywhere so needs plenty of masking. It did not bleed through the stitching on mine, just as well as it's cream on the inside.
Only tip I would suggest is follow the instruction on the bottle, basically you always work to a wet edge. It scary as it looks really patchy but dries out nicely.
If yours has faded to an even colour all over then it may turn out OK, It's your gamble

Graham,
My last Stag had a double duck hood that had faded. I used Renovo successfully on that, but it did need two coats, with a follow-up again about a year later. I have just (this afternoon) done the mohair one on my current Stag after stiching a repair patch close to the edge above the driver's seat. It is still drying, but looks good so far.
Neither of the hoods I have done had a beige lining, so can't comment on the bleed through, but the seams look dry inside this one.
I'd love a new hood, but have spent rather a lot on the Stag this year..............Dave

If you asked me if I would risk it with another hood ? I dont know is the honest answer.Pleased and disappointed with results..
