As Raoul said he is fitting my old A/C unit but before removal I had the same problem as you in that the heater would not work.

The problem was the vac operated valve on the engine side of the firewall. try the following.

First check the vac is being applied to the valve on mine the small rubber hoses (there are a lot of them around the thermo valve on the heater control as well!)were split, replacingthose may get the vac back on the valve. Then you will probably find, like me, the valve is stuck anyway. The valves were only fitted to the Stag the nearest available today is one from an early XJ6 the only diff seems to be the vac pipe exit straight up whereas on the old Stag one it exit horizontally.

When you have got this far you look at the snow around your house, curse at the 25kg of useless compressor and remove the whole lot and fit a normal heater with cable operated valve and pass the aircon unit onto someone like Raoul who actually needs it to stop him melting!

Ditch it and fit a normal heater! - Alan

PS Raoul, Still proudly wearing your Air sea rescue sweatshirt - Great result in the Ashes test!
    I followed your advice Alan!

I dismantled the airco/heater unit and bought a second hand normal heater, which I fixed up.

Could you advice me how to fix the electrical issue. I pulled out five leads to the control box and two offboth fan-motors. Now I only need three fixes to the singletwo-speed fan motor.

Hope you know the solution Alan and enjoy the new year!

    Cheers, Hans
