    I don't believe I done that......

Got a slight problem - Stag is in the garage, landy 130 is in front of the garage being fixed, delay in getting parts I need to fix landy and landy not movable, realised today that stag mot runs out on Saturday 29th June Bollocks!!

I have a provisional booking for Friday at 5pm, in the hope that I can move the landy out the way by then, otherwise ND is a no no.

That's a very kind offer Graham, but I have a school commitment on the Saturday so will have to decline.

            Thanks anyway.

Out of interest, is it so strict with MoT in UK? Over here you have 2 months where nothing happens, not even a fine, and only after (I think) 6 months does it start to become an offence. From 2 - 6 months it's just a €20 fine or something like that. Testing only every two years too.
              The answer isn't 42, it's 1/137

Drew, as its the motorist yes it's strict. I think if your car isn't MOT'd and you drive the insurance is void, I may be wrong there though.

Illegal to drive without a valid mot even if expired one day and insurance becomes invalid.

Insurance will NOT be invalid with an expired mot. If the car was unroadworthy you may have a problem but the insurance company couldnt get out of their legal obligations to cover the vehicle on the road. All the mot test proves is that on that day the car met a certain set of standards, doesnt even mean the next day it would be roadworthy!

Tony, have you asked your insurance company? We are not talking about roadworthy here, we are talking about no mot at all and insurance companies will do anything not to pay out in case of an accident. Same as road tax, if not taxed, should not be on the road and your insurance will be invalid, check it out.

                        Jeff.

Law over here ensures that Insurance companies are only allowed to weasel out if the "deficiency" on the car was a contributing factor to the accident or damage.

Seems a shame that these EU regulations aren't making it into UK law.

After a couple of long days and nights landy got fixed and moved out the way, took stag for mot at 5pm this afternoon and failed!

But only on not having black/yellow number plate on rear (had a black/silver on, but old one in the garage) and the washer bottle pump decided it had had enough pumping and just dribbled (been told that happens with age!)

So old number plate back on, washer bottle robbed, I mean borrowed, from Tim and can take it back for a retest on those two things at 8.45am tomorrow morning.

All being well shall be at ND on sunday

Thanks Dave and Graham forl offers of lifts.

                            Al.
