stromberg carburetter compensaters

Hi Fellow members.
A simple question. How do you adjust stromberg carburetter compensaters.
I've looked in the ROM, there's nothing about adjusting the compensaters. Not even a picture of the innards.
I stripped down both compensaters, there's an adjusting nut on the flat steel spring which you can adjust the pressure from slight to rock solid on the black plastic "valve".
