Alternative alloy wheels for a Stag

Alternative alloy wheels for a Stag

I seem to recall that, once upon a time, there were some larger diameter – 15” or possibly up to 16” – alloy wheels that had the same appearance as standard 14” stag wheels. I think they may have been made in Australia. Does anyone else recall these wheels and know where they were made and whether anyone is selling them now?

Hi Peter, they were 15" made in Oz, a forum member (who has now disappeared) used them on his restored stag, if you try a forum search it may bring something up

Take a look at post 52 on the current 'which wheels and tyres' thread.

Unfortunately I can't post link on this damn tablet

      Cheers

The challenger wheels I saw for sale at National Day were 14X6, the more sought after wheels are 15X7 and very difficult to find, I bought mine from Faversham Classics the last time ND was in Essex 2003ish.

I have the CHallenger wheels on mine and yes they originally came from Faversham Classics. When I mentioned that they are no longer available Trevor without saying he could implied it might be possible for him to get them again. Worth an ask

              Guys,

Many thanks for your advice. Sorry for the discourtesy of not thanking you earlier. In 'Stag Paranoia' or Stag Panic' mode getting ready to go to Ireland for the Coastal Causeway tour when I developed a radiator leak and starter problems. Both now solved - dreadful Lucas connector by the starter motor but I can't blame The Prince of Darkness for a radiator leak! I'll look in detail at options later.

I am chuffed to bits . Last week I picked up a set of refurbished Compomotive 15" alloy wheels c/w tyres for a song from a Stag specialist trader. The tyres are well oversized for rims and car at 215/60/VR15, but have now changed them for 195/65/15 which I had as spares from one of the family fleet which, according to all the internet tables for wheel ratio sizing, is the correct and closest to standard OE 185/80/14. I believe they are now a discontinued model in the Compomotive range, but have a family resemblance to the standard Stag alloy although IMO nicer. I saw a set on a Stag at Malvern last year and thought they looked the bees-knees. You could try Compomotive and see if they still have the moulds.Compomotive Stag alloys.jpg

                        Hi Dave

I thought about changing them over, but...in this heat!! Anyway, I am trying to sell my polished Stag alloys and thought that with them on the car at Sherborne might be an advertisement! I did the same at Powderham last Sunday but everyone there already had polished alloys or Minilites so no interest. Andy is hawking them aorund for me.
